I have realized that I am a painter trapped inside of a photographer’s body and this series of work is an attempt to blur the lines between the mediums using a printing technique I developed called “reAction” printing. In the darkroom I project the negative on to traditional black & white photographic paper. Then I drip, brush, wipe and stencil various development chemicals into the paper like the action painters of the 1950’s. This process takes place over several days and causes unusual chemical reactions to occur resulting in beautiful color shifts and deep layering. Each reAction print is one-of-a-kind.
